Jersey Flegg Cup | Silktails Bested by Bulldogs

Kaiviti Silktails nil def by Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 60

It was another tough day at the office for the Kaiviti Silktails, defeated 60-nil by the second-placed Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground in their Round 8 match.

An early sin bin handed the Bulldogs the opportunity to capitalise on their early lead, taking a 28-point advantage into the break. While the Silktails fought hard, their efforts were unable to prevent their opponents from continuing their ascendency.

Much like they have throughout the season, the match acted as an acknowledgement for former Fiji Bati, Roosters and Bulldogs player James Pickering, in the club's continuing series of themed games celebrating Fiji greats.

"James has worked in the Fiji Australian space for many years providing an opportunity to keep local Fijian players culturally connected and playing the game we all love," Silktails General Manager Damon Spooner said.

"James shared valuable on and off-field advice to the squad to trust their process. Despite the squad suffering another loss, we will focus on the positives and learnings and go again to prepare for our next game back home in Lautoka."

The Kaiviti Silktails will host the Parramatta Eels in Round 9 when they return to Fiji to kick-off at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Meanwhile, the Glebe Dirty Reds will return to the field to face the St Marys Saints in the Ron Massey Cup and the Cabramatta Two Blues respectively, while the Ipswich Jets host the Northern Pride in their Round 8 QLD Cup clash.
