Easts opened their season with two wins against Souths (26-9) and St George (18-15) before a draw against Wests (17-all) and followed up their first three weeks with mirroring results, two more wins (34-8 against University and 23-11 against Newtown) before another draw against Canterbury (18-all).

From Round 8, though, it was all one-way traffic as the Tricolours embarked on a seven-game winning streak ahead of the finals, which included a 50-12 thumping of University in Round 14.

Runaway: Fleet-footed centre Jack Lynch gets away in a match against University during the 1936 season.

No team went close to toppling Eastern Suburbs throughout the finals series, with a 25-13 win over Canterbury - which included a Dave Brown hat-trick, which booked a date with Balmain in the final.

Another season without a single defeat was completed as the side put the Tigers to the sword, with an eight-tries-to-two thumping in the final, with a Fred Tottey double leading to a 32-12 win and the Club's sixth Premiership.
