The Steggles Roosters Charity Nest has hit another incredible milestone cracking the $1.5 Million dollar mark on the back of the Club’s win over the St George Illawarra Dragons on ANZAC Day.

The 20-point victory in the annual ANZAC Cup clash saw the Charity Nest hit a total of $1,526,539 raised for Children’s Charities since its inception. A total of $102,500 has been raised in the 2014 season so far off the back of the Club’s four wins.

Established in 2010, the Charity Nest sees Steggles, major sponsor of the Sydney Roosters, donate $1,000 for every point the Roosters beat the opposition by, while the Roosters contribute $250 per point. In addition, the Sydney Roosters contribute a further $1,000 for each win by their Under 20s Holden Cup team.

The selected children’s charities benefiting from the continued on-field success of the Club include Children’s Hospital Foundation – Brisbane, Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia, Lifestart and the 2014 Charity of Choice – KidsXpress Life.

Contributions to the charities help fund a variety of important projects including the purchase of a new vehicle for KidsXpress Life for mobile assistance for kids, building Lifestart’s special playground for children living with a disability. Charity Nest funding also goes towards funding scholarships for two PhD students working with the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia who specialise in treating cancer in children and infants, and the cuddle carer program for the Children’s Hospital Foundation, Brisbane.

The sights for the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest are now set on new, record-breaking heights and we know that Roosters Members, fans and community groups will get behind the team in 2014 as we strive for the 2 Million dollars.
