The last time the Roosters played the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, it ended in a Golden Point thriller that was won by Brisbane on the back of some Ben Hunt brilliance.

The Roosters managed to level the series at home in a gutsy performance, but they’ll be back in Brisbane for the Preliminary Final this Friday, playing for a spot in the Grand Final.

For Boyd Cordner, Suncorp Stadium has been a tough ground in 2015, with the backrower part of both the Roosters Golden Point loss to the Broncos and the State of Origin decider ambush.

“It wasn’t a night to remember,” Cordner said of the State of Origin decider.

“It hurt and it definitely wasn’t the way we wanted to finish the series, but I have definitely gained motivation from it,” he added.

Rather than feeling overwhelmed at the idea of a return to Suncorp Stadium, Cordner is relishing the opportunity.

“I’m really looking forward to getting up there, creating some new memories and erasing some old.

“As a player you look forward to games like this. This is the reason you play footy,” he said.

Cordner had a massive game the last time these two sides went head-to-head, and he’ll be looking for another big performance on Friday.

“We’ve got to put in a big performance this week.

“We know all too well what the Broncos can do, so it’s up to us to be at the top of our game.”
