The Roosters have scored a gutsy 17-10 win over the arch-rivals South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday night at ANZ Stadium.
After doing well to handle some early pressure from the Rabbitohs attack, it was Captain Jake Friend to make the big break up the middle and offload to Mitchell Aubusson to get the Roosters a metre from the try line on the 5th tackle.
The play was executed perfectly on the last tackle as Jackson Hastings kicked to Daniel Tupou in the corner for the first try of the night.
They continued to defend well throughout the first half, handling pretty much everything that was thrown at them.
After getting good field position on the back of a penalty, Aidan Guerra scored right between the uprights after receiving a golden ball from Jake Friend.
On the back of an error from Shaun Kenny-Dowall in the final minutes of the half, Aaron Gray would score the first for the Rabbitohs on the back of a clever tip-pass from Luke Keary.
The second half started in ideal fashion for the Roosters, with Dylan Napa getting his first try of the year on the back of a perfectly weighted kick from Jackson Hastings.
In the final 5 minutes of the game, Hastings would take the field goal on offer to take it beyond 2 converted tries.
The Rabbitohs scored through Cody Walker in the dying minutes, but it would do nothing more than make the scoreline more attractive.
