It was a tough start to the tournament for the Roosters, who went down 15-27 to a star-studded Cowboys outfit in the first game.

The Cowboys got off to a hot start, scoring tries throughMichael Morgan, Gela-Mosby and Kalyn Ponga to give the Cowboys a big lead before the break, but a Kane Evans bonus try just shy of the bell gave the Roosters some life.

Gela-Mosby started hard and fast scoring again for the Cowboys, Justin O'Neill followed with another out wide and got themselves into a comfortable position to win convincingly.

The Roosters were keen to lessen the gap and would do so through Aidan Guerra and Connor Watson to bring it within 12 at the full time siren.

Cowboys 27 (Gideon Gela-Mosby 3, Michael Morgan, Kalyn Ponga, Justin O'Neill tries; 1 goal) def. Roosters 15 (Kane Evans, Aidan Guerra, Connor Watson tries; 1 goal).
