Sydney Roosters NRL squad members recently attended the Elite Athlete Business Networking event at NRL HQ Learning Centre.

The networking event was an assessment for the students enrolled in the Certificate IV in New Small Business.

The course has been designed by the Elite Athlete Business School with the elite athlete firmly in mind with a highly interactive, practical program taught by award-winning trainers, business owners, and industry experts.

Sydney Roosters completing the course, Daniel Tupou, Paul Carter, Chris Smith, Lindsay Collins, Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck, Paul Momirovski, and Poasa Faamausilli, were tasked with meeting and connecting with small business owners.

Also in attendance on the night was Eloni Vunakece who completed the course last year and was still keen to continue to develop his business network.

Industries represented on the night included Fitness, Real Estate, Property Development, Finance & Accounting, Retail, Social Media, and many more.

The night commenced with an inspiring presentation from former NRL player and now entrepreneur, Adam Macdougall.

Adam shared the mistakes and key lessons he learnt in his transition from rugby league athlete to business owner.

He emphasised the importance of the athletes educating and empowering themselves to build the skills needed to be successful business owners.

Paul Heptonstall, NRL Senior Wellbeing and Education Manager, next shared the importance of committing to further education whilst playing rugby league to the highest level.

Following the formal presentations, the networking begun.

Sydney Roosters athletes certainly impressed with their ability to meet and connect with a number of different business owners and many stayed to continue to network well beyond the finishing time.

Narelle Hess, Career Coach & Psychologist, and Damon Spooner, Wellbeing & Education Manager were also in attendance to support our athletes develop their business acumen.
