The Roosters have been away on a training camp this week for a tough hit-out before getting some well earned rest leading into the back end of the 2017 NRL season.

Captain Jake Friend sustained a broken hand during an intense training drill on Tuesday morning.

He will undergo surgery this afternoon and miss up to four weeks of NRL action as a result.

There are no other injuries to report from the training camp.
