Boyd Cordner 2017 Highlights
The Sydney Roosters are thrilled to announce that captain Boyd Cordner has agreed to terms for a five-year extension, keeping him at the Club until at least the end of 2023.
“There are no words for how proud I am to be a Rooster, I just love the Club,” said Cordner.
“I’ve been with the Roosters since I was 16 and the Club has played a massive role in my development both as a footballer, and as a man.
“From the top down, there’s a great group of people at the Roosters. We’re a family and this is home, so I’m stoked to know that I’ll continue to be part of the team here,” he added.
“Boyd joined the Roosters as part of our pathway program, and has developed into a leader of not only this Club, but also his State,” said Roosters recruitment manager Adam Hartigan.
“We see Boyd as a Rooster for life. From the outset, Boyd said that his heart was with the Roosters and that this is where he wanted to continue his career, so it’s a massive boost for the Club to have agreed to terms with Boyd for a further five years,” he added.
Roosters head coach Trent Robinson was pleased that Cordner’s leadership would continue to benefit the team.
“Boyd is our captain, and he is highly-respected for not only his strong work ethic and tireless work rate on the field, but just as importantly, for the man he is away from the field,” said Robinson.
“It’s great news for the Roosters that Boyd’s experience and leadership will continue to benefit the team around him in the coming years,” he added.
