A Captain's Honour For Isaac Liu

Isaac Liu | Better Than Last Year

You never really know when big opportunities are going to come your way, and that's why you've got to take advantage when they present themselves.

For Isaac Liu, it was the moment he was named as the Captain in our pre-season trial against the Penrith Panthers just a couple of weeks ago.

The past year has been eventful for Isaac, from being one of the form forwards in the competition in 2017, to selection in the Kiwis squad in the Rugby League World Cup and topping off with an opportunity to be Captain.

"You don’t really get these opportunities very often," he said on his first experience as captain.

"It was a big honour to captain the side and I enjoyed it.

"It was something big for myself, even telling my family I was captaining the side.

"Even though it was a trial game, it was still big.

"I’ll take it, that’s one cap for me."

When asked if this was a pathway for Isaac, he saw it as a definite opportunity to lead the side down the track.

"After being given the chance to captain the side, definitely.

"I can see that direction for myself that I can lead the boys one day."

He was outstanding in 2017, but what goals has the Iceman set himself for this season?

"To be better than I was last year.

"I played good footy last year, but my goal pretty much every year is to be better than last year."

I want to be the best that I can be
