The Sydney Roosters select the best players aged 13,14 & 15 each year from our four junior league clubs to represent the Sydney Roosters across three games in a small Winter competition.
The junior development program was a great success in regards to player development.
The players were up-skilled on fundamentals of the game, position specific training and were introduced to Sydney Roosters team structures.
Throughout the program there were some competitive score lines.
The Under 13s Roosters, who are new to the international game, were really impressive over their three games.
There were some close and low scores throughout, the players defensive improvement was impressive as they worked together to match it against the bigger players in other districts.
Players took a lot out of the attacking structures of the international game which saw some brilliant tries scored across the board.
The Under 14s started the first game very strong, most of them are playing together at school and junior league level to assist with combinations on the field.
Players from this age group have taken a lot of confidence from it, as well as training at a professional level assisting with development moving forward.
The Under 15s were the pick of the grades after winning all three of their matches, which is a positive step forward for the future of the Sydney Roosters.
With all of these great performances, we will see many of the players step up to the next level of their playing career at the club in the Harold Matthews competition early next year.
Next up for the junior development squads is a new summer academy program for players aged 12, 13 & 14 (more details to follow).
For the 15s it will be a step forward to try and get a spot in our Summer Harold Matthews squad.
