Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has been named the New Zealand Rugby League Player Of The Year after a sensational stint with the New Zealand Kiwis in 2018.
The NZRL Awards were held last night, with twelve award winners announced during what is an important evening for New Zealand Rugby League.
Kiwis coach Michael Maguire had nothing but praise for the Sydney Roosters and Kiwis forward after laying the platform in the front row for his country throughout four test matches played post NRL season.
"As a senior player within the Kiwis camp, Jared put a lot of time into discussing the growth of the Kiwi team," he said.
"He has immense passion towards where he wants to see the black and white jersey and this is a real quality of his."
Waerea-Hargreaves (Kiwi #755) had one of his best seasons in the black and white jersey, accumulating over 130 run metres for all four end-of-season Test matches in England, and proved crucial in the Kiwis historic 26-24 win over Australia.
Joseph Manu was named in the shortlist for Rookie Of The Year, but was narrowly edged out by Ken Maumalo.
The Sydney Roosters would like to congratulate Jared Waerea-Hargreaves on this massive achievement.
