Quentin Pongia takes a hit-up against the North Sydney Bears.

The Sydney Roosters have been saddened to hear of the passing of former player Quentin Pongia.

Pongia passed away on Saturday morning in New Zealand after a battle with cancer.

Player number 981, Pongia played 43 games for the Roosters between 1999-2001. He also represented New Zealand in 35 Test Matches between 1992 and 2000.

In total, Pongia played 137 matches during his NRL career which spanned between 1993-2003 for the Canberra Raiders, New Zealand Warriors, Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons. He also played two seasons in the English Super League with the Wigan Warriors.

The Sydney Roosters wish to extend their condolences to Quentin’s family and friends at this sad time.
