The Manu and Morris show is purring along nicely

Their productive partnership is only in its fledgling stage but Joseph Manu and Brett Morris are bringing big dividends.

The pair were united at the Roosters for 2019 after Blake Ferguson left for Parramatta and Morris departed from the Bulldogs kennel.

They played two games before Morris injured his knee. They were reunited in round 15 and have played the last eight straight, scoring seven tries apiece and assisting for each other for some of those 14.

Manu openly admitted in the lead-up to last year's NRL grand final he was not looking forward to losing Ferguson as his wingman. They scored a collective 26 tries, forming a lethal right edge.

"Obviously last year having that really good combo with Blake – we enjoyed that whole year together," Manu told NRL.com.

"This year has been a bit different as I had Brett only briefly before Ryan Hall, Matt Ikuvalu due to injuries. So it's been pretty tough. However the last few weeks with Brett back has been really good.

"We're still fine-tuning a few things in our combo but I feel like we’re starting to gel better.

"These last few weeks I'm getting to know the style of how he plays and he's getting to know what I like. It's always so good to have someone that experienced outside of you."

Morris and Manu play their 11th game together on Saturday when the Roosters host the Panthers at the SCG.

Morris is then on track to play his 250th NRL game against the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium in the final round of the regular competition.

"It's so good having him outside of me," Manu said.

"He talks a lot with me about defence and I'm grateful for his advice because he's played a lot of games ... been a Test winger for his country. So in defence we stay in sync and in attack he lets me do my thing.

"It will be a real privilege to play his 250th with him ... pretty crazy number. And Cooper [Cronk] is way over that (368 games) and he's also on my side.

"Brett is so well-known for his finishes. He's in the top 10 all-time for tries now."

Morris's four-pointer against the Warriors a week ago was his 153rd try and put him at No.10 on the career list, displacing Manu Vatuvei (152). Nathan Merritt (154) is the next scalp and Morris might even catch Matt Sing and Hazem El Masri (159) before the season ends.

"He has really helped my game this year. He is an amazing player. I have watched him since I was young," Manu said of Morris.

The 23-year-old from Hamilton in New Zealand is making his mark as well. Not only is he a premiership-winner, he has played five Tests for the Kiwis in the past two years.
