There's no denying the talent of strike centre Latrell Mitchell, but what must be acknowledged is the added maturity to his game in 2019.
While still an elite attacking weapon on the left edge, Mitchell added a few extra strings to his bow this season on both ends of the field.
He kicked his first career 40/20 in Round 2 of the competition in his debut at five-eighth, then iced a Golden Point victory over the Melbourne Storm with his first NRL field goal.
On the defensive end of the field, Mitchell had his best season to date.
His one-on-one tackle on Suliasi Vunivalu at Adelaide Oval was arguably one of the best of the season, while his tackling in the second half of the NRL Grand Final against the Canberra Raiders was near perfect.
He was the second highest try scorer in the NRL in 2019 and the highest point scorer by a long margin.
Mitchell kicked off the season with an appearance for the Indigenous All Stars and will conclude 2019 representing the Australian Kangaroos in test matches against New Zealand and Tonga.
