Not only was Josh Morris celebrating his 300th NRL game, but the Roosters were also set to welcome back Sonny Bill Williams for his first Club appearance since 2014.
Luke Keary looked to impress in his return to the field after two weeks off, while Freddy Lussick was set for his first career start at hooker.
If there was any doubt in how the Roosters were going to start the match, James Tedesco would quickly put the talk on hold when he took on the right edge defence to muscle his way over in the opening five minutes.
John Bateman hit back just minutes later with an individual effort, but that would spell the end of their scoring in the match.
Daniel Tupou went flying above the Raiders backline for a brilliant and athletic four-pointer, then Tedesco would cap off an impressive performance with a solo effort to seal the victory at GIO Stadium.
We're set to go again this Friday night in what will be a do-or-die final at the Sydney Cricket Ground for a spot in the Preliminary Final.
