UPDATE: Line Up for Round 9 vs Eels Announced

UPDATE: Roosters announce 19-man squad

Following an injury sustained during today’s Captain’s Run, Fletcher Baker has been ruled out of the Sydney Roosters 21-man squad.

Consequently, the Roosters have been granted an exemption by the NRL to replace him with Tuku Hau Tapuha. Hau Tapuha joins the squad in jersey number 24.

Lachlan Lam and Naufahu Whyte have been omitted from Trent Robinson's side, while Egan Butcher and Joseph Suaalii have been retained on the extended bench.

The Sydney Roosters are proud to announce the line up for the Round 9 match against the Parramatta Eels on Friday night at Bankwest Stadium at 7:55pm.

Following their big win over the Newcastle Knights, the Tricolours will be aiming to make it three wins in a row when they take on the Eels for what is predicted to be a thriller.

Roosters Members and supporters will be treated to their second double-header in as many weeks as the North Sydney Bears (Roosters feeder team) play in the curtain-raising in the Knock On Effect NSW Cup match against the Eels at 5:10pm with a number of future Roosters set to feature.

Captain James Tedesco returns to the line up after passing the necessary HIA protocols, while Matt Ikuvalu lines up alongside Daniel Tupou and Josh Morris in the backline.

Centre Joseph Manu will play his 100th NRL game - all of which have been for the Sydney Roosters - with the two-time Premiership winner, New Zealand and Māori representative becoming just the 73rd Rooster to reach a century of games for the Club.

Halves Drew Hutchison and Sam Walker will once again partner up for the sixth game in a row, while Isaac Liu, Ben Marschke and Siosiua Taukeiaho pack down in the front row.

Nat Butcher comes into the starting side alongside Angus Crichton in the second row while Victor Radley once again will don the no.13 jersey. Adam Keighran, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Fletcher Baker and Daniel Suluka-Fifita round off the side on the interchange bench, while Sam Verrills is unavailable for selection after being diagnosed with a semi-detached retina.

Named on the Roosters' extended bench are Egan Butcher, Naufahu Whyte, Lachlan Lam and Joseph Suaalii.

Friday night will be the 149th time the Roosters and Eels come together, with the Red, White and Blue having a 53% winning record with 78 victories and 5 draws against Parramatta.

Easts have also won twelve of the last sixteen matches between the sides going back to 2008, and have been victorious in the last four contests.

The first and only matchup so far at Bankwest Stadium saw the Roosters run away with a 24-10 victory in Round 6 2020, with the Tricolours undefeated at the venue with five wins from five visits.

Roosters Members and supporters are encouraged to purchase tickets and attend the match, but for those unable to do so, the best game-day experience is at Easts in Artie's Sports Bar. With live sport and a great range of food and beverage options, Artie’s provides the best experience for any away game!
