The Sydney Roosters have today announced that the Club has made the decision to relocate its Round 16 home game against the Melbourne Storm to McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle.
Scheduled to be played on Thursday, July 1 at 7.50pm, the Roosters have elected to take the game to Newcastle as a precautionary measure due to the current COVID-19 situation impacting Greater Sydney.
While it’s unfortunate we will not be running out in front of our Members and sponsors at the Sydney Cricket Ground, this is a necessary precaution given the current environment.
“The people of the Hunter region love Rugby League so it was an easy call to take our Round 16 home game to Newcastle,” said Roosters Head Coach Trent Robinson.
“We always enjoy making the trip to Newcastle and playing at McDonald Jones Stadium, so we’re really looking forward to hosting this game at the ground for all the passionate rugby league fans of Newcastle, including our Roosters Members and supporters from the region who will benefit from this being a true home game for them,” he added.
Sydney Roosters Members based outside the impacted local government areas of Greater Sydney will be provided with relevant ticketing information in the coming days.
