Best Moments of 2021: The Wartime Jersey Returns

Season 2021 will certainly live long in the memories of the Roosters faithful with so many moments that stood out in what was truly a unique year in Club history.

We've gone through the memory bank and selected ten of the best moments from the year in chronological order.

Today we're celebrating the return of the Wartime Jersey - which reappeared for the first time on Anzac Day in over a decade.

Round 7 Post Match with Sam Walker

It was a triumphant return of a forgotten treasure in the Club's history as the side donned the Bondi Blue Wartime Jersey in their Round 7 Anzac Day Cup clash.

With striped jerseys prohibited due to the continuing strain of war-time rations, from 1944-1946 the Club opted to temporarily abandon the famous Tricolours. Changes in jersey designs across the competition were employed to conserve materials for the war effort - with Easts claiming the Premiership in the iconic jersey in 1945.

Round 7 Match Highlights: Roosters v Dragons

While the jersey made a brief comeback in 2008 and 2009, it represents a period of transition and success at the Club and is a reminder of those who served and sacrificed during the war effort.

Not only that, but the Tricolours celebrated the occasion in 2021 with a thumping 34-10 victory over the Dragons, which saw Sam Verrills successfully return from an ACL injury, while rookie halfback Sam Walker took home the Ashton-Collier Medal with an inspired performance that would make the likes of Ray Stehr and Dick Dunn proud.
