Best Moments of 2021: Friend Immortalised on Legends Mural

Season 2021 will certainly live long in the memories of the Roosters faithful with so many moments that stood out in what was truly a unique year in Club history.

We've gone through the memory bank and selected ten of the best moments from the year in chronological order.

And who could forget retiring captain Jake Friend being immortalised on the Legends Mural in Waverley earlier this year?

Friend Immortalised on the Club Legends' Mural

With three-time Premiership winner and captain Jake Friend retiring midseason, the 264-gamer was immortalised on the Legends' Mural in Waverley, joining fellow Club skippers Arthur Beetson, Brad Fittler, Anthony Minichiello and of course his co-captain, Boyd Cordner.

An emotional and surprised Friend was grateful for his addition to the mural and spoke candidly about his career in the Red, White and Blue which began as a fifteen-year-old.

In Round 11 the Club paid tribute to the unassuming warrior at the Sydney Cricket Ground with the tagline 'Celebrate Jake' in honour of their retiring captain amongst Roosters Members, teammates, friends and family.

There's no doubt that Friend will live on as one of the greatest and most influential no.9s in the Club's long and esteemed history, and it was only fitting that his contribution should be immortalised alongside fellow legends in Club heartland.
