The North Sydney Bears and Sydney Roosters have begun season 2022 in style with wins over the Newcastle Knights in the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup respectively.
Both sides travelled to Cessnock to take on the Novocastrians, and both took home strong wins to open their account for the new season.
The Central Coast Roosters will kick-off their season in the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership (Open Competition) on Sunday May 1 against the Wests Tigers at Morry Breen Oval.
Roosters Rule in Red and Black
Four of the North Sydney Bears tries were scored by Roosters representatives in the 36-24 victory over the Newcastle Knights on Sunday afternoon.
Norths began proceedings in strong fashion with wingers Tom Carr and Vuate Karawalevu dotting down in their respective corners with the first two tries of the match, before barnstorming second rower Naufahu Whyte found the line soon after.

The locals struck back in quick succession just before the break with the Bears down a man, going into the sheds 18-12.
Newcastle would take advantage of numbers to score in the first minute on resumption to level the scores, and the sides went tit-for-tat as Carr bagged his double before the Knights returned serve, with the scoreline at 24-all heading into the final ten minutes.

But two of the Roosters' brightest young forwards stood up when it counted, as Whyte fought hard to score his double before hulking front rower Tuku Hau Tapuha barged his way to the line with five minutes remaining, sealing the result for the Bears.

Roosters Dominate Knights in Seven Try Performance
The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side put the Newcastle Knights to the sword in a 36-10 victory, overcoming an early sin-binning in a seven-tries-to-two performance.
It took just four minutes for the locals to stamp their mark in the match, but it wasn't long before the Roosters were on the board through fullback Luke Knight. Despite being down a man soon after, the Tricolours only conceded one more try, taking a narrow 12-10 lead at the break.
