Season 2022 provided plenty of memorable moments, and through the off-season, we'll be counting down the top 10 highlights of the year that was.
It was a moment nearly five years in the making, but on September 2, the Sydney Roosters officially opened their brand-new state-of-the-art home ground Allianz Stadium in emphatic fashion.
Round 3 NRLW Highlights: Roosters vs Dragons
Kicking off the night, the NRLW Roosters torched up the St George Illawarra Dragons in their Grand Final rematch in a 34-6 victory, with halfback Raecene McGregor starring with four try assists.
Leianne Tufuga officially became the first player in Club history to score on the new turf, taking a pinpoint McGregor kick to slam the ball down and create history and bring the scores to 6-all at the break.
The Tricolours rolled through in the second 35, scoring five four-pointers which included a double to Jocelyn Kelleher and Otesa Pule's first in the top grade, recording their third consecutive win of the season.
Following pre-game entertainment and guest appearances from Club legends, Trent Robinson's men got to work against arch-rivals South Sydney with Angus Crichton etching himself as the first NRL player to touch down at Allianz.
Round 25 Highlights: Roosters vs Rabbitohs
Captain James Tedesco then touched down after Sam Walker brought the lead to eight with a penalty goal, backing up in support after Crichton burst through the line.
Their opponents hit back with a four-pointer, but it mattered little as Walker added his name to the scoresheet with a trademark kick and chase, icing the result before halftime with a 20-6 lead.
It only took a few minutes for the Red, White and Blue to get over again in the second 40, this time through a barnstorming run from Egan Butcher that saw the 22-year-old brush off multiple defends on his way to the line.
Souths bagged a pair of consolation tries, but it was the Roosters rising to the occasion and notching a 26-16 win at their brand-new home to finish the regular season.
