The Sydney Roosters have today announced that Angus Crichton has signed a two-year extension, as well as the signings of Jaxson Paulo and Jake Turpin.
Currently participating in the Rugby League World Cup with the Australian Kangaroos, Crichton spoke about the pride and passion he feels for the Sydney Roosters.
Kangaroos Debutants: Angus Crichton
“I’ve made no secret of the love I have for the Sydney Roosters. This is my home and I’m really excited to have re-committed to the Club for the next two years,” said Crichton.
“I know I have so much more to give and that my best football is in front of me, and I’m looking forward to continuing to play my role for this great Club,” he added.
Since making his NRL debut in 2016, the 26-year-old has played 141 first grade games, 86 of those with the Sydney Roosters whom he joined in 2019. He completed his maiden year with the Club as a member of the Roosters’ Premiership-winning team.

In the representative arena, Crichton made his Kangaroos debut in Australia’s opening match of the Rugby League World Cup earlier this month. He has played 11 matches for New South Wales (2018-2022) and was chosen in the Prime Minister’s XIII in 2022.
Crichton was also a finalist for the 2022 Ken Stephen Medal for the important work he does away from rugby league through his foundation First People Project.
“Angus is a valued member of the Roosters squad for the role he plays both on and off the field and we’re pleased to have secured his services for a further two years,” said Roosters Head of Recruitment Daniel Anderson.
Complementing the announcement of Crichton’s contract extension with the Roosters are the signings of Jaxson Paulo and Jake Turpin.
Paulo has signed a two-year deal with the Roosters commencing in 2023. The 23-year-old winger has made 43 appearances in the NRL since making his debut in 2020 and was an NRL Grand Finalist with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2021. He has also played one international with Samoa.
25-year-old Jake Turpin has signed a one-year contract with the Roosters for the 2023 season. He joins the Roosters from the Brisbane Broncos where he made 60 NRL appearances between 2018-2022.
Welcoming Paulo and Turpin to the Roosters, Anderson said: “Jaxson is a skilful outside back whose best football is still ahead of him, and Jake is a specialist hooker who will provide some terrific depth to our squad.
“We look forward to welcoming Jaxson and Jake when they officially join the Club at the start of pre-season next month.”
