The Sydney Roosters are excited to confirm that the Club will field its own team in The Knock On Effect NSW Cup commencing in the 2023 season.
The Club will compete in the NSW second-grade competition under the Sydney Roosters banner for the first time since 2005, having taken out nine Premierships with the last being a 30-8 victory in the 2004 Grand Final.
This is the first time in almost 20 years that the Sydney Roosters jersey will feature in every grade from Harold Matthews through to the NRL, and we believe that this will provide a true pathway for the development of our players through to the NRL.

While the Club’s four-year affiliation with fellow foundation club and feeder side North Sydney will formally come to an end at the conclusion of 2023, the Roosters will continue to provide a number of players to the Bears throughout the upcoming season.
The move also confirms that every single one of the Club’s teams from Harold Matthews Under 17s through to NRL level will wear the famous Red, White and Blue under the Roosters name.
Sydney Roosters General Manager of Football Programs Craig Walker believes that the move will further aid the Club in producing the next crop of NRL stars.
“While we have enjoyed a successful partnership with the North Sydney Bears, we have notified them that we will be fielding our own team in the 2023 Knock On Effect NSW Cup competition,” said Walker.
“This is the first time in almost 20 years that the Sydney Roosters jersey will feature in every grade from Harold Matthews through to the NRL, and we believe that this will provide a true pathway for the development of our players through to the NRL,” he added.
Details of the Sydney Roosters’ 2023 NSW Cup fixtures will be published once the draw has been finalised by the NSW Rugby League.
