Sydney Roosters 2023 NSW Cup Draw Released

The Sydney Roosters will take on fellow Foundation Club the Western Suburbs Magpies at Leichhardt Oval to kick off their re-entry to the NSW Cup in 2023.

Returning to the second-grade competition for the first time since 2005, the Tricolours will play 24 matches across 26 weeks from Sunday March 5 to Saturday August 26 throughout the regular season.

The Roosters will play nine home games at Wentworth Park in Glebe - the venue of the Club's very first match in 1908 - while also playing at Allianz Stadium in Round 2 and Industree Group Stadium in Round 14 in double headers before the NRL side.

Away double headers with the NRL side will be played in Round 9 against the New Zealand Warriors, Round 11 against the Penrith Panthers, Round 16 against the Newcastle Knights, Round 18 against the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles and Round 25 against the Parramatta Eels.

The Red, White and Blue will enjoy byes in Round 4 and Round 20 respectively, while the venue for the Round 26 match against the Western Suburbs Magpies will be confirmed at a later date.  

The Sydney Roosters will keep Members and supporters updated on the Club's official NSW Cup squad for 2023. 

Highlights of the draw include: 

  • Nine home matches at Wentworth Park throughout the season.
  • The Round 2 match against the New Zealand Warriors at Allianz Stadium in a double header with the NRL match.
  • Matches against fellow Foundation Clubs Western Suburbs, Newtown and North Sydney at traditional venues Leichhardt Oval, Henson Park and North Sydney Oval respectively.
  • A return double header against the Warriors in Auckland for New Zealand-based fans.
  • A triple header Magic Round at Redfern Oval against arch-rivals South Sydney in Round 10.
  • A double header on the Central Coast at Industree Group Stadium along with the NRL side against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
  • Seven total double headers along with the NRL side across the season.
