This Saturday, the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy will take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Leichhardt Oval in the Club's third consecutive Tarsha Gale Cup Grand Final.
In 2022, the Roosters outlasted the Newcastle Knights to claim their maiden Tarsha Gale premiership, finishing the season undefeated, and this year they’re searching for a similar result.
As the final preparations commence, Roosters coach Blake Cavallaro believes the key to the decider is about refining the details.
“The focus is really heavy on us and what we can do this week, getting our processes right is the main thing,” he said.
“We’re really big on getting us right before we look at other teams, so we’ll look into last week’s performance and review that before we look at who we’re playing and come up with a game plan.”
The Roosters haven't faced the Bulldogs this season, but the Indigenous Academy aren't strangers to competing against unfamiliar opposition having defeated the Knights in their first and only meeting in 2022 – the Grand Final.
“We’ve been watching Canterbury from afar this season and have seen how they play and work in a team environment,” Cavallaro said.
“It’s all about making sure we can provide our team with the best opportunity and give them the best advice heading into the game.
“Now it’s up to our captain Ally [Bullman] and the team to take on that advice.”
The Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy will go head-to-head with the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs in the Tarsha Gale Cup Grand Final at Leichhardt Oval this Saturday, kicking off at 4:15pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $5.00, while kids under 12 can enter for free.
If you can't make it to the game, be sure to tune in on NSWRL TV!
