After claiming the 2022 Premiership in thrilling fashion, the Sydney Roosters Physical Disability Rugby League Team are back in action for 2023 and have their sights set on another title.
The Roosters are proudly one of the foundation clubs of the NSWPDRLA – the New South Wales Physical Disability Rugby League Association – and are one of four teams who compete in the fortnightly competition run at New Era Stadium in Cabramatta.
Known for their strong defence and unique offensive style, the Roosters team for 2023 feature 12 players, who share a passion for rugby league and the Red, White and Blue.
The Roosters kicked off the 2023 season in a strong fashion, with a gutsy 14-4 win over the Wests Tigers.
Sydney Roosters Community and Participation Manager Claire Reed said the squad showed plenty of determination to come away with the opening round win.
"Despite the Wests Tigers scoring very early in the game, the Roosters showed great poise and discipline to stop any further points," she said.
"The team also demonstrated some attacking prowess, piling on three tries to secure a great victory."
The Roosters are now preparing to take on the Newtown Jets on Sunday May 21.
