With the NRLW pre-season kicking off next week, the Sydney Roosters have today announced that Corban Baxter and Brydie Parker will be returning to the NRLW competition in 2023.
One of the most decorated players in women’s Rugby League, Baxter makes her return following the birth of her youngest son earlier this year.
The 29-year-old fullback’s last NRLW match was the delayed 2021 NRLW Grand Final (played in April 2022) where she skippered the Roosters to the Club’s maiden title. She is also a World Cup winner with the Jillaroos and has represented New South Wales and led the Māori All Stars.
“I’m really excited to be making my return to the NRLW with the Roosters,” said Baxter.
“Being a mum is my greatest achievement, but I’ve missed being on the field and getting into my competitive side. I’m proud to call myself a Rooster and the Club has always been so good to me, so I’m looking forward to playing my role to ensure we build towards a successful 2023 season,” she added.
23-year-old Parker returns following her recovery from an ACL injury which she sustained in the 2021 NRLW Grand Final.
Aside from sitting out the 2022 season due to injury, the dynamic winger has been a member of the Roosters NRLW squad since the introduction of the competition in 2018.
“It’s inspirational to see Corban making her return to the competition after giving birth to her youngest son earlier this year. Corban is an important leader at our Club and her return is a reflection of the incredibly hard-working person she is,” said Roosters NRLW Head Coach, John Strange.
“It’s also great to welcome Brydie back from her injury. Brydie has been a key member of our squad for a number of years, and she’s worked tirelessly over the last 13 months to be back,” he added.
The Sydney Roosters NRLW pre-season will commence on Monday, May 29.
The Club will be launching its 2023 Sydney Roosters NRLW Membership at 4.00pm today (Wednesday, May 24). Further information can be found on the Roosters website.
