The Ipswich Jets and Glebe Dirty Reds both suffered defeats over the weekend, with the Jets failing to defend a half-time advantage and the Dirty Reds unable to find the tryline, while the North Sydney Bears had a bye.
Ipswich Jets
The Ipswich Jets fell to a 24-46 defeat, hosting the Brisbane Tigers at North Ipswich Reserve on Saturday afternoon in the Queensland Cup.
After conceding first points, the Jets fought back to establish a half-time lead, but we're unable to hold the Tigers out.
The visitors opened their account just six minutes into the match through Tristan Hope, before doubling their lead 12 minutes later with a try to winger George Jennings and a successful conversion from Jack Miers.
The Jets responded in spectacular fashion, running in three tries in seven minutes which included a first-half double to Gerome Burns.
Fullback Jayden Corrigan crossed the stripe on the stroke of half time, giving Ipswich a strong 24-12 buffer at the break.
Brisbane raced out of the blocks in the second half, scoring twice in the first seven minutes through Solomona Faataape and Leivaha Pulu to lock it up at 24-apiece.
Faataape then secured a double in the 54th minute, crossing to give the Tigers a 30-24 advantage over the home side.
The Tigers completely shut the Jets out of the game, finishing strong with tries to Corey Thompson, Tristan Powell and Saimone Ahomana in the final eight minutes to record a convincing 46-24 win.
Glebe Dirty Reds
The Glebe Dirty Reds were overpowered 22-0 by the Ryde Eastwood Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Wentworth Park in Round 13 of the Ron Massey Cup.
It was a tough loss to swallow for the high-flying Dirty Reds who failed to score a point on their home turf, resulting in just their fourth loss of the season.
The hosts leaked points early, with the Hawks drawing first blood in the opening minute through five-eighth Jason Smith.
Ryde Eastwood doubled their lead six minutes later with centre Nicholas Mougios crossing the stripe.
After stopping the bleeding for a brief 14 minutes, Glebe leaked more tries in quick succession as Lachlan Poko and Malie-j Townsend found the line for the Hawks.
With the match resulting in a 22-0 defeat, the Dirty Reds will be looking to bounce back from their two-game losing streak when they host the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Wentworth Park in Round 14.
