Unfortunately, the Ipswich Jets suffered a 46-6 loss in the Queensland Cup.

North Sydney Bears

In a top-of-the-table clash, the North Sydney Bears beat the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 30-6 in NSW Cup on Saturday afternoon at Belmore Sports Ground, reclaiming first place on the ladder as the home side bid farewell to club legend Josh Reynolds.

North Sydney wasted no time, jumping out of the blocks to score through Terrell May to take a six-point lead after five minutes.

They doubled their advantage shortly after, with halfback Ben Stevanovic crossing the stripe in the 11th minute for his ninth try of the season.

Winger Allan Fitzgibbon found another try in his NSW Cup campaign 10 minutes later, crossing to put his side up 16 points after just 22 minutes.

The Bulldogs were able to cut the deficit to 10 with a try to Hayze Perham and a successful conversion from Bailey Hayward, making it 16-6 with eight minutes left in the first half.

However, the Bears hit back before half time as Fitzgibbon bagged a double to take a 20-6 lead into the break.

North Sydney displayed heroic defence in the second half to not concede a point, while at the other end, they scored 10 of their own, with tries to Reuben Porter and Alfred Smalley closing out a convincing 30-6 triumph.

Ipswich Jets

The Ipswich Jets suffered a heavy 46-6 defeat to the Central Queensland Capras at Biloela Sporting Complex on Saturday afternoon in the Queensland Cup.

The Capras got off to a strong start, taking an early 4-0 lead with a try to Aaron Moore in the sixth minute.

Midway through the first half, they scored two tries in the space of five minutes with Cooper Marshall and Nicholas Halalilo crossing the stripe to make it 16-0.

With just a few minutes to play before the break, winger Brandon Roberts found the line to head into half time with a 22-0 lead in favour of the Capras.

Central Queensland picked up where they left off, with fullback Blake Moore scoring tries in the 44th, 58th and 73rd minute to record a stunning 29-minute hat-trick.

Opposing fullback Denzel Burns found a try of his own amidst Moore’s onslaught, crossing in the 68th minute for the Jets’ only points of the game.

Brandon Roberts secured a double in the final minute of play to end the match with a convincing 46-6 victory to the Capras.

Glebe Dirty Reds

The Glebe Dirty Reds have moved up into second place on the Ron Massey Cup ladder following a 32-26 win over the Hills Bulls on Sunday afternoon at Wentworth Park.

The home side jumped out of the blocks with tries to Bilal Maarbani and Michael Coleman putting them up 10-0.

A quick double to fullback Harrison McKeon and two successful conversions from Devin Makoare-Boyce extended the Dirty Reds’ lead to 22 points.

The Bulls eventually found their first try through Sean Garner off the bench, pulling back four points.

Successive tries to Logan Aldridge and James Roberts brought the game back to eight points, with Glebe holding a 22-14 lead.

The Dirty Reds extended their points tally to 26 with a try to Noel Aukafolau, but a fast response from the Bulls saw Aldridge cross for his second to bring the game back to a converted try margin.

The sides traded blows in the dying exchanges, with McKeon securing a hat-trick for the Dirty Reds and Roberts finding his second of the afternoon for the Bulls as the game concluded with a 32-26 win to Glebe.
