The Sydney Roosters have secured exclusive access to train at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in preparation for the Club’s historic opening match of the 2024 NRL season in Las Vegas.
To ensure the team is in peak condition, the Roosters have secured access to the world-class facilities at UCLA, renowned for its commitment to excellence in sports and academia. The Roosters will join an illustrious team of franchises including Manchester United, Barcelona FC, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Chelsea FC and a number of NFL teams who have also been provided the opportunity to utilise UCLA’s state-of-the-art facilities.
“This training partnership with UCLA is a testament to the Club’s dedication to achieving the highest standards both on and off the field,” said Roosters CEO, Joe Kelly.
“We are incredibly grateful to UCLA for granting us access to their world-class facilities. This exciting opportunity ensures that our team will have the best possible preparation leading up to our historic match in Las Vegas. UCLA's commitment to excellence in sports and their dedication to athlete development aligns perfectly with our vision for success,” he added.
UCLA’s well-rounded approach has a history of creating champions on the field and in the community and its collegiate sports championship history stands out as one of the most impressive of any university in the USA.
UCLA is one of only a handful of universities to have ever won national championships in football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The Division 1 college proudly holds 121 NCAA team championships, an accomplishment that speaks to its commitment to excellence, while some notable athletes to have attended UCLA include Jackie Robinson (MLB), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (NBA), Arthur Ashe (Tennis), Troy Aikman (NFL), Reggie Miller (NBA) and Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Olympian, Athletics).
