Easts Group | Sydney Roosters are delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Newton as Patron of both organisations.
Mr Newton was a Director on the Easts Group and Sydney Roosters boards for 23 years (January 2001-March 2024). Most recently, he also chaired the Sydney Roosters’ immensely successful 2023 Hall of Fame event and is the founding Chair of the Club’s Foundation and Heritage Committees.
While he recently stepped down as a Director of the Easts Group and Sydney Roosters Boards, Mr Newton remains Chair of the Foundation and Heritage Committees.
Easts Group | Sydney Roosters Chairman, Mr Nick Politis AM, said that this prestigious appointment acknowledges Mr Newton's outstanding contributions to both organisations for more than two decades.
“Peter represents much of what this Club stands for. He is passionate, proud, successful and a person of high integrity, and he has been named Patron of both Easts Group and Sydney Roosters in acknowledgement of his distinguished and exceptional service to both organisations over his 23 years as a Director,” said Mr Politis.
Throughout Mr Newton’s time on the Board, Easts Group grew in value exponentially while the Sydney Roosters enjoyed numerous successes including NRL and NRLW Premiership Victories (4 NRL, 1 NRLW), 4 World Club Challenge titles and numerous Minor Premierships and Titles in the lower grades, as well as growth off the field including record numbers in Membership and Sponsorship, and the formation of the Sydney Roosters Foundation and Sydney Roosters Heritage Committee.
He is a Life Member of both Easts Leagues and the Sydney Roosters Rugby League Football Club.
