The Sydney Roosters have today announced that two-time World Cup winner Sam Bremner will make her return to the Roosters and the NRLW competition in the upcoming 2024 season.
Widely regarded as one of the most talented fullbacks in women’s rugby league, Bremner retired in January 2023 after a stellar playing career between 2011-2022. She has returned to the Club with immediate effect.
“Sam has already made a significant impact on the sport, and we are thrilled to welcome her back. Her decision to come out of retirement speaks volumes about her passion for the game and this Club,” said Roosters NRLW Head Coach, John Strange.
Having joined the Roosters for the 2022 NRLW season, Bremner retired at the top of her game. Her two tries in five games at fullback earned her the Dally M Fullback trophy in the NRLW ‘Team of the Year’ and the fullback honour again in the RLPA’s ‘Dream Team’ of 2022.
“Sam’s skill, experience and leadership are second to none and her presence will be a huge asset to our squad. While Sam is incredibly fit and has a very strong footy IQ, we won’t be rushing her into the side before she has had the opportunity to reacquaint herself with the rigors of NRLW training,” added Strange.
