Club Weekend Results: Round 20

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg team have broken a sequence of seven successive losses with a resounding 28-8 victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Redfern.

The young Roosters led 28-0 early in the second half before going on to post their seventh win of the season.

Whilst the NSW Cup team were beaten 44-24 by defending premiers the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Gosford, the Roosters were very pleased to welcome back highly rated 19-year-old centre Robert Toia to the field, after missing the last ten months recovering from an ACL rupture.

Playing 79 minutes at right centre on his return, Toia scored a fine try early in the second half, made a number of strong back field carries and completed 20 tackles from 21 attempts in a most encouraging display after such a long period out of the game.

Eight teams will be in action this weekend with the 2024 NRLW season kicking off on Thursday night with the Sydney Roosters traveling to the Hunter to take on the Newcastle Knights, the back-to-back defending premiers, in the feature match of the opening round.
