The Sydney Roosters are thrilled to announce that Connor Watson and Spencer Leniu have both signed two-year contract extensions, securing their commitment to the Club through to the end of 2027.
Player 1160, 28-year-old Watson made his NRL debut with the Roosters (2016) and has played 141 top grade games so far, 75 of those with the Club.
“I’m happy and proud to extend my future with the Roosters. This Club means a lot to me, and so do the people in it,” said Watson.
“I'm grateful for the opportunity to keep working with such a talented group of players and staff and I'm excited to continue to bring my best every day,” he added.
Roosters Head Coach, Trent Robinson, was pleased to retain Watson as a member of the Club’s long-term squad.
“Connor is a highly-valued member of this Club for both the player and person he is. He is meticulous in his training and prep and will always put the team’s needs before his own,” said Robinson.
“Above all, Connor is respected as a leading voice within our squad and community, so it’s really pleasing that his energy and experience will continue to benefit those around him,” he added.
23-year-old Leniu became player 1228 when he made his Club debut in the opening round of the 2024 NRL season.
Already a three-time Premiership winner, the powerful forward has quickly become a fan favourite for his significant impact with his strong carries and defensive prowess.
“I’m grateful to be part of such a prestigious club like the Roosters, and I’m so proud to continue my time here. It’s felt like home since day one,” said Leniu.
“I’m excited about what the future holds, and I’m committed to working hard with Trent and my teammates every single day, to keep doing my job for the team,” he added.
“We’ve loved welcoming Spencer to the Roosters. He has the trust and respect of his teammates, and I’m looking forward to watching him continue to build as a player and person over the next few years,” said Robinson.
