The 2025 junior representative season gets underway this Saturday for four of the Roosters seven teams.

The Central Coast Harold Matthews Cup team has a Round 1 bye, whilst the Laurie Daley Cup and Andrew Johns Cup competitions will not commence for another week for the Central Coast Roosters.

Television coverage of the junior representative season in 2025 will be provided by BarTV Sports.

The first teams of the season have been named and below we look at those sides.

S.G. Ball Cup Team (Round 1)

The Sydney Roosters S.G. Ball Cup (Men’s Under 19s) 2025 squad will feature eight players from last seasons’ squad, although star half back Toby Rodwell is not named in this weekend’s opening round clash with North Sydney and neither is Demetrius Kilisimasi, with Rex Bassingthwaite chosen as full back.

However, six others from the 2024 squad (wingers Michael Nasar and Baxter Warner, prop Peter Benjamin Uini, lock Josiah Fesolai, second rower Lachlan Dooner and hooker Jackson Allen) will play at the Hills Grammar Ground on Saturday. Dooner missed the entire 2024 S.G. Ball Cup season with a calf injury and moves from the backs to the forwards in 2025. Hooker Jackson Allen will captain the side and former Roosters, NSW and Australian captain Boyd Cordner will be the coach.

Saturday’s team will also include seven Harold Matthews Cup graduates, six from the Sydney Roosters and one (second rower Darcy Smith) from the Central Coast Roosters. One of those youngsters, full back Rex Bassingthwaite, is regarded as a real star of the future, having signed with the Club for another four seasons late last year. 2024 Central Coast Laurie Daley Cup five eighth and captain Brooklyn Rosemeyer has been chosen as five eighth for Saturday but exciting centres Cohen Dittman and Lui Lee will miss the match. The game will kick off at 2.30 pm.

Tarsha Gale Cup Team (Round 1):

The Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy (Women’s Under 19s) team will field a new look side in 2025. Only eight of last year’s squad are back for 2025. Centres Katelyn Whitehead and Tyra Ekepati, half back Georgia Barrett, prop Aliyah Nasio and interchange players Merinda Mihajlovic, Aaliyah Boland and Lillie McLean will play in Round One, but an eighth, Zoe Lee, has not been selected for this match. Nasio, who played four NRLW matches for the Roosters last season, is a massive retain for the Under 19s squad and she is expected to be a major factor in all the matches she plays at this level.

Centres Katelyn Whitehead and Tyra Ekepati, five eighth Jayla Dicker and hooker Mahlie Cahsin played in the NSW Women’s premiership for the Central Coast last season, so they’ll greatly benefit from having played in that senior grade in 2024. Lock Ellie Brander, who captained the Central Coast Lisa Fialola Cup team in 2024, will be joined in this team by her 2024 team mate Grace Dabin, who is selected on the bench. Full back Logan Fletcher is a graduate from the Sydney Roosters Lisa Fiaola Cup team from 2024, as is concussion sub, Lacey Cross. Another Sydney Roosters 2024 Lisa Fiaola player Tyra Dymock is part of the wider Tarsha Gale Cup squad.

The Roosters coaches for 2025 will be two Roosters NRLW stars, Corban Baxter and Keeley Davis.

Lisa Fialoa Cup Team (Round 1):

The Roosters fielded two teams in the 2024 Lisa Fiaola Cup (Women’s Under 17s), with one based in Sydney and another on the Central Coast. In 2025, however, the sole Roosters team will be the Central Coast Roosters, who finished 4th in last season’s competition. The Central Coast Roosters will again be coached by Roosters NRLW winger Jayme Fressard.

The 2025 squad includes seven players who played Lisa Fiaola Cup for the Central Coast last season and three who played in that competition for the Sydney Roosters.

Nine of those ten players have been named for Saturday’s clash with the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown. The match, which kicks off at 11.45 am. Saturday’s Roosters team will feature the star half back and captain from the 2024 Sydney Roosters Lisa Fiaola Cup team, Talea Tonga, and her team mate from 2024, winger Ayva Papalii, together with returning Central Coast Roosters players (centre Talia Berryman, five eighth Mia Vaotuua, prop Makeena Hammond, hooker Mag McPhail, second rower Jemma Wooden, lock Emilee Rose-Hall and interchange player Indy Rosen). The tenth graduate, utility back, Anastasia Leatupue, the third of the Sydney Roosters Lisa Fiaola Cup 2024 players, is in the wider squad, but not chosen for his match.

Mia Vaotuua, awarded best back in the 2024 Central Coast junior rep awards, will captain the team in 2025.
