The Roosters and the Warriors have shared the spoils over the weekend in the senior representative fixtures, with the Warriors winning the NSW Cup fixture and the Roosters winning the Jersey Flegg Cup clash.
NSW Cup
With ten NRL squad members and a number of N.S.W. Cup contracted players unavailable this weekend, it was always going to be a tough trip to New Zealand for the Roosters N.S.W. Cup team to take on the undefeated New Zealand Warriors.
A very classy Warriors outfit was for far too good for the Roosters as they ran in eight tries in beating the Roosters 46-14. The Roosters were only able to complete 24 sets and the errors played right into the Warriors hands. Hooker Tyler Moriaty (47 tackles) and backrowers Hayden Barton (34 tackles) and captain Max McCathie (33 tackles) did plenty of defensive work for the understrength Roosters.
Once again left winger Tom Rodwell led the metres gained stat, running for 158 metres from his 17 runs.
The Roosters next travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Canberra Raiders.
Jersey Flegg Cup (Men’s Under 21s)
The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg Cup team has broken through for its first win of the season in defeating the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland.
The Roosters had to do it the hard way after the Warriors led by 22-10 late in the first half. One try late in the first half and three second half tries to nil in the second half enabled the Roosters to pull off a most deserving win.
For the Roosters five eighth Josh Durkin and fullback Kallum Weatherall-Stacey had a hand in a number of the Roosters tries, whilst right side backrower Jackson Pennell scored a fine second half ty of his own beating multiple defenders. Former Canterbury-Bankstown and N.S.W. Under 19s prop Fanafou Seve impressed on his Roosters debut, scoring the final try to seal the victory.
The Roosters, off this win, will travel to Canberra next Saturday to play the Raiders.
NSW Women’s Premiership

Ron Massey Cup
The Glebe Ron Massey Cup team has lost its Round Two clash with the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks, going down 24-6 at Eastwood.
With all the NRL squad and N.S.W. Cup contracted outside backs available this weekend, Glebe was able to call on three Roosters N.S.W. Cup outside backs in Trey Peni, Turoa Williams and Emery Jolliffe. However, despite Peni crossing for the first try of the match, the Dirty Reds, missing hooker and captain Craig Garvey, were no match for the Hawks, conceding five tries, three in the second half.
Glebe are back at home next weekend where they’ll take on the undefeated St Marys Saints.
Sydney Shield
The Glebe Sydney Shield team have bounced back from a disappointing first round loss to defeat the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks 22-14 at Eastwood in their Round 2 clash.
Glebe led 22-4 but conceded two tries in the final three minutes to take a little gloss off the victory. The Dirty Reds scored some scintillating tries, three of which started from within their own half. Fullback Aston Pollard crossed for a double whilst five eighth Vincent Valentinetti and left winger Rowan McIntosh both crossed for long range tries.
The Glebe Sydney Shield team are also back at home next Sunday against the St Marys Saints.
