Sydney Roosters Academy
Since the establishment of the Sydney Roosters Foundation in 2021, our top priority has been the creation of the Sydney Roosters Academy. Inspired by a transformative visit to FC Barcelona's renowned La Masia Academy in 2020, the Sydney Roosters are pioneering elite junior player development and welfare standards within the NRL and Australian sport.
Dubbed our own 'La Masia,' our Academy, located in the nearby suburb of Kingsford, serves as the residence for the most promising talent from across the globe who join as Sydney Roosters Academy players. Here, they receive comprehensive care, education, nourishment, and training akin to NRL professionals, guided by industry leaders and supported by Roosters legends like Aubusson, Friend, Minichiello, Cordner, and Cronk.
The Academy House accommodates 12 players at any given time, overseen by dedicated house parents and supported by full-time high-performance coaches, as well as specialist physiotherapy and medical staff. Each player benefits from personalised wellbeing and education support from our dedicated Wellbeing and Careers team, enabling them to pursue off-field education, employment, or professional development opportunities essential for maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
Furthermore, they receive education on the NRL code of conduct, club expectations, effective decision-making, elite mindset, and healthy sleep and dietary practices, ensuring their growth both as athletes and individuals of exemplary character.
